Almost every house in Pelham and Pelham Manor has a driveway, and that single fact shapes how we work here. A driveway gives the tech room on both sides of the car, keeps the job off a live street, and means nobody has to move a vehicle with a broken window through traffic to get it fixed. So the van does most of the running out here, and people carry on with their day while the glass goes in outside.
The work is the same as it is in the shop, which is the point. The right piece is identified for your exact vehicle first, old adhesive is cut back and the frame prepped properly, new clips and moldings go on, and the car stays put until the urethane reaches its rated strength. Pelham is small, quiet and easy to drive, which is not something you can say about most of our coverage area. The Hutchinson River Parkway runs along the east side and is how most people get anywhere quickly. Metro-North's Pelham station puts commuters into Manhattan in half an hour, so a good number of cars sit at home all day. Streets are narrow, tree-lined and residential, with driveways and detached garages nearly everywhere and very little curbside congestion.

The Hutchinson River Parkway is the main culprit, as it is for most of this corner of Westchester. It moves fast, it carries commercial traffic despite the parkway name on some stretches, and a stone off a tire at that speed puts a real star into a windshield. Trees are the other factor and they matter more here than in the city: mature limbs over narrow streets and driveways come down in storms and take back glass and sunroof panes with them, and falling acorns and branches chip windshields on cars parked underneath. Winter freeze and thaw finishes off chips that were left through the fall, particularly on cars that sit outside a garage rather than in it.
If you would rather come to us, the Hutchinson River Parkway south to the Bruckner and then the Cross Bronx west is the usual line, coming off at Jerome Avenue or University Avenue for Macombs Road; the shop is at 1589 and the lot is out front. Twenty-five minutes is normal without traffic. Most Pelham customers skip the trip and book the van, and we are happy either way, since the price does not change.
