Trucks are hard on windshields, and the vehicles that work around the peninsula show it. What arrives here is often not one clean break but a windshield sandblasted along the bottom edge with three or four chips scattered above the wiper line, at the point where repair stops making sense. When it reaches that stage we replace it, and the replacement gets treated as the structural job it is: old urethane cut back, pinch weld cleaned and primed, fresh bead laid at even height, new moldings and clips fitted.
The glass has to be the right glass. Rain sensors, heated wiper park areas, acoustic interlayers and the camera bracket all differ between trim levels of the same model, and a windshield that fits the opening but drops one of those features is a wasted morning. Call with the trim level as well as the model and the correct windshield gets identified before you make the trip. Hunts Point runs on freight, and the roadway shows it. Halleck Street, Edgewater Road, Food Center Drive and the approaches around Bruckner Boulevard carry loaded tractor-trailers all day and most of the night, and the pavement gets chewed into patched, gravel-strewn stretches that would not survive anywhere with lighter traffic.
